Low Brass Trios?

A student of mine recently came to a lesson with the idea of starting a low brass trio.  Always glad to have students interested in chamber music, I asked for his plans for starting the group and what music they might perform.  He mentioned the International Low Brass Trio as the starting place and that there was some sheet music available in the library already.

The combination of horn, trombone and tuba as a chamber group hadn't really occurred to me.  There really isn't much literature for the combination, one of the reasons we don't see many groups like this, but the concept is interesting to me.

I've made a couple video posts.  Check them out and let me know what you think!

  1. Benjamin- we'd love to send them some more PDF music if they run out of repertoire choices! Have them send us an email to internationallowbrass@gmail.com!

    1. Hi Jess, thanks for the offer! That would be great. I'll have them drop you a message. Right now they are just reading everything they can get their hands on to get the feel for the sound and check out all the options. They have used your site as a great resource for getting started. Thanks!
