Hypnotic Brass Ensemble

The post made by Zsolt earlier this week and some of our discussions in class made me start thinking about popular brass ensembles in the United States.  I haven't really kept up with the topic, so I did a little research.  The Youngblood Brass Band is out of Oregon and was just hitting it big when I entered undergrad.  I've posted some videos from them.

I also found some information about the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.  Very similar to Youngblood, but from the chicago area.  You can check out more about the group on their site.  I think its interesting to try to understand the background of music like this and apply it to the popular setting.  There is brass band, hip hop, jazz and even folk background in the music.

These two bands are just the start of whats out there.  Sometimes living in the academic world means we loose track of some music.  This was a good reminder of whats out there.
